Job Description:
The SCH Instructional Coach is a member of the school faculty.
It is the responsibility of the Coach to work with the principal
and school improvement / plan team to implement the school-wide
plan to improve the achievement of all students in the school,
including the delivery of professional development, modeling and
observing classroom instruction, and providing feedback to
teachers. The position entails proven excellence as a classroom
teacher and exemplary skills in developing, implementing and
assessing instructional strategies to improve academic performance,
overall achievement in core content areas, problem solving skills
and use of modern technology for all students in the school. A
commitment to attend all training sessions and/or staff development
designed for SCH Instructional Coaches, use of instructional
research and strategies with teacher colleagues and the ability to
coach them in their successful implementation is required. The
coach position will be overseen by the Executive Director of
Elementary Education and the Title I Department.The Instructional
Coach position requires a professional with: Excellent
organizational skills Extreme flexibility Strong content knowledge
A proven track record using research-based, best practices in the
classroom Ability to grow trust and build relationships over time
in a professional learning communityPrimary Duties and
Responsibilities: Analyze school wide student data as the basis for
developing an action plan to increase student achievement In
conjunction with the administrative team, plan, lead and support
professional development opportunities dictated by the needs of the
staff Co-plan, team-teach and or model lessons in an effort to
support teachers in their professional growth Observe and provide
peer assistance and coaching in an effort to support teachers in
their professional growth Participate in all district professional
development opportunities Other duties assigned by
AdministratorRequirements: Master's degree in relevant academic
discipline preferred Five or more years of recent successful
classroom experience Demonstrated expertise in content, curriculum
development, student learning, test analysis, mentoring and
professional development Highly effective interpersonal and group
communication skills Strong knowledge base of best practices in
instruction Strong work ethic, self-directed and self-motivated
Excellent communication skills and an understanding of how to
facilitate growth in adultsIt is the policy of the School City of
