Process Manager - Human Resources/Labor Relations
Cleveland-Cliffs is the largest flat-rolled steel company and the
largest iron ore pellet producer in North America. The company is
vertically integrated from mining through iron making, steelmaking,
rolling, finishing and downstream with hot and cold stamping of
steel parts and components.
A successful candidate for this position will serve as the primary
HR/LR contact at our Cleveland-Cliffs Riverdale facility located in
Riverdale, Illinois and will be responsible for all l functional HR
and LR outcomes. This position is also accountable for
administering the Collective Bargaining Agreement and various HR/LR
policies and procedures.
Responsibilities: Ensure that human resource policies support the
organization; establish, monitor, and control working rules and
policies; counsel employees and supervisors regarding these
policies.
Direct and manage processes related to organizational development
that address workforce planning, succession planning, workforce
development, recruiting, key employee retention, organization
design, and change management.
Coordinate salaried and bargaining unit recruitment and hiring to
acquire new talent for the organization; facilitate onboarding
activities for all new hires; partner with local area management to
understand staffing levels for all business units at the facility
to ensure proper levels are achieved.
Support talent management programs, including training and
development, performance management, and rewards and
recognition.
Assist in administration of employee benefits programs working
closely with Corporate HR; inform and advise employees regarding
benefit programs.
Collaborate with Corporate HR and the Shared Services Organization
to deliver consistent high-quality HR products and services.
Analyze sensitive and complex labor relations matters to determine
appropriate course of action, identify systemic problems, and
recommend solutions.
Conduct investigations and advise management on actions to be
taken.
Provide advice on issues filed in the grievance procedure; attend
grievance hearings and draft Company response.
Maintain active involvement and interaction with local union
representatives and department management to help foster a positive
labor/management relationship.
Complete the business unit's annual Affirmative Action Plan.
All other duties and activities as assigned.
Minimum Requirements: Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources,
Business Management, or related field with 5+ years of human
resources experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment
Supervisory experience (will manage staff of two)
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Proven ability to manage multiple and diverse priorities
Proficient in Microsoft Office products (PowerPoint, Outlook, Word,
Excel, etc.)
Preferred Requirements: Progressive human resources experience in a
supervisory role
SHRM-CP/PHR Certification
Experienced as a participant in labor negotiations
Experienced in handling grievances
Experienced in conducting internal investigations
Working knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and
regulations, including but not limited to EEO, ADA, FLSA, FMLA,
NLRA.
