The Gund Company: Take Care of Each Other, Take Care of the Customer and Take Care of the Business What you'll do As a Shipping/Receiving Team Member, you will primarily be responsible for ensuring our product is appropriately packaged, labeled and processed for on time delivery to our customers. You will receive in all material that comes in by inspecting and inputting into the computer. Some other responsibilities relating to material handling and clerk work will apply. Strong knowledge of computer systems and use of vendor portal systems (ie UPS Worldship & FedEx) is highly desired. Prior experience in shipping/receiving and/or in a warehouse environment is highly desired.This challenging environment requires a passion for quality and adaptability to a job shop environment.Essential Job Functions:Prepare product for shipment to the customer by inspecting, labeling and packaging product according to standard procedures :Review work order and shipment details for all shipments scheduled to ship and prepare for any special requirementsMatch work order/packing slip documentation to order documentation to verify all critical shipment dataPerform Last Piece Inspection on PartsVerify that all work orders are correctly signed off for in-process inspectionsConfirm correct quantity/counts against work order or packing slipWipe parts needed Make boxes, crates or skidsEnsure product is packed in a timely manner and protected from damage following customer specifications or internal guidelines for shipment or placement in stockEnsure packaged product is properly marked and labeled with all informationComplete work order or packing slip paperworkOperate forklift (As needed and if certified through TGC)Load and unload trucks as necessaryParticipate in cross training to become knowledgeable of equipment/process within the departmentMaintain a clean and organized work areaProvide guidance, feedback and positive behavior modeling The Gund Company culture of care:Determine if tools are undamaged and in safe condition for useMake suggestions to improve production and order processing efficiencyAssist with training other team membersFollow safety rules and quality standardsModel ethical and moral behavior consistent with the values and ideals supported by The Gund CompanyQualifications and Competencies:Perform work independently with minimal defectsCommunicate with supervisor on work order priorityOpen to change due to emergency orders or fabrication of partsVery good math skillsAbility to understand drawing and blue printsAbility to use basic measuring instrumentsAbility to operate a forkliftExcellent problem solving skillsAbility to follow written and verbal instructions Must be able to work overtime as neededEducation and Experience:A High School Diploma or GED with prior hands on, vocational or job-related course work/training, or any similar combination of education and experience is required. Prior experience in a manufacturing industry is preferred . Physical Requirements: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is may be required to sit and reach with hands and arms. The employee is regularly required to stand; walk and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include ability to adjust focus.Work Environment: The work environment is typical of most shop environments; not climate controlled and subject to outdoor weather conditions. Team members are exposed to sounds and noise levels that are distracting.Frequent exposure to fumes/dust particles; may require use of respirators or other types of PPE.May come in contact with toxic or caustic chemicals.
