Accounting Quality Assurance!
This individual will support Assurant’s Balance Sheet
Reconciliation Quality Assurance (QA) team with routine quality
assurance reviews of the enterprise portfolio of
reconciliations. The QA Analyst will conduct, monitor, and
evaluate testing of all GAAP/STAT balance sheet reconciliations,
communicate results, and apply recommended actions for

information to internal/external customers, Segment and Corporate
management, and to regulatory agencies on behalf of Segment and

interpretation and application of broad areas of accounting theory,
exercises influence to drive results in the accomplishment of goals
and plays a leadership role in enhancing existing processes by
identifying alternative solutions and leading implementation
The QA Analyst is familiar with a variety of accounting process
concepts, best practices and procedures and provides guidance and
development support to accounting staff.
The ideal candidate must be able to contribute to the Shared
Service strategy and execution by applying knowledge and experience
and helping develop internal resources.
This role will be required to help US and International teams
meet their compliance deadlines and address issues as they
Participate in the initiating, planning, executing, controlling,
and reporting testing activities related to BSR QA processes,
applications and system using formal QA methodology.
Performs the assessment of balance sheet reconciliations for
quality, accuracy and related controls and procedure compliance in
specialized area. Supports assessment planning and
prioritization and ensures gaps identified are clearly articulated
in the monthly report and resolutions are escalated to management.
Ability to execute and report on the effectiveness of Assurant’s
balance sheet reconciliations across all financial statement lines
and functional areas including, Finance, Actuarial, Claims, Tax,
Investments, Premium Accounting, business operations, and
Report findings by writing the observations and recommendations,
ensuring alignment with corporate policy and standards and assist
Global Accounting with remediation efforts.
Serve as a change agent for the development and implementation
of strategic initiatives across Global Finance organization in
designing and implementing best/leading practices across
Work on multiple concurrent projects, managing conflicting
priorities to achieve desired outcomes.
Provides input to and effectively communicates relevant
observations and recommendations to management.
Utilize Blackline and automated audit tools as part of quality
assurance process when appropriate.
Responsible for ensuring all procedural documentation for
balance sheet reconciliations, attestations, and quality assurance
assessments are accurate and maintained.
Maintain knowledge of and industry leading practices around
audit quality assurance and improvement
Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications Required - Experience, Skills and
Preferred Experience, Skills and Knowledge:
Experience in audit practices
Experience in an insurance accounting environment and working
knowledge of U.S. Statutory Reporting requirements.
International regulatory reporting knowledge a plus.
Experienced working in a multination environment would be a
Experience with ERP and reconciliation tools
Prior Shared Services or Business Process Outsourcing
Knowledge and Skills:
Strong understanding of US GAAP and management reporting
Strong understanding of reconciliation concepts and experience
in preparing account reconciliations and supporting
Working knowledge of regulatory requirements (i.e. MAR, SOX,
Excellent financial analysis skills and judgment
Experience in leveraging technology to improve Finance
Strong business and finance acumen
