Chemical Laboratory Technician Dover Chemical Corporation- Hammond
Works , is seeking a Laboratory Technician, is responsible for
performing routine analysis for in-process and finished products
following standard operating procedures. These responsibilities
included, but are not limited to: Interpreting results of analysis
and providing accurate and appropriate documentation (i.e. log
books, controlled documents, Microsoft Dynamics AX). Supporting
laboratory operations by maintaining equipment calibrations,
cleaning glassware, and keeping lab benches and cabinets in order.
Approving release of product by ensuring that all tests are
complete and results meet specifications. Notifying management of
product quality issues, trends, or observations that impact
quality, operations, and customers. Preparing COA---s and other
required documents for outbound shipments. Coordinating the
retention and disposal of lab samples and lab waste per company
policy. Supporting the ISO Management Systems. Other duties and
responsibilities as assigned. JOB REQUIREMENTS : (State minimum
education/training & experience required and indicate technical
and/or managerial skills and knowledge required.) Education &
Experience Bachelor---s Degree in Chemistry or related field or
equivalent work experience. Preferred 2 years of industrial
manufacturing QA laboratory experience, in the chemical or related
industry, performing quality assurance tests; in a production
environment, inspecting products, applying math, computer entry and
using laboratory equipment with statistical process/quality control
(SPC/SQC). Technical Knowledge Solid computer background and use in
various computer software and applications. Knowledge and
demonstrated skill using a variety of analytical testing
instruments and equipment. Required fundamental chemistry and
knowledge of chemical structures, nomenclature and properties.
Ability to conduct data analysis, technical report and procedure
writing and determination of conclusions is required. Demonstrated
experience to analyze and evaluate technical data and communicate
results both orally and in writing. Technical Support - Business &
Customer Provide effective technical support and interface with
Operations and external customers (as required). Interpersonal
skills to provide input and present data across multiple functional
departments. Laboratory Health, Safety & Hygiene Compliant with and
knowledgeable of Laboratory Safety Procedures and OSHA regulations.
Must be able to work safely with hazardous chemicals. Ability to
wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in designated areas and
performing work tasks requiring the use of PPE. Work Skills and
Abilities Ability to effectively utilize and/or instruct employees
on applicable use of ERP are a plus. Ability to establish
priorities, work independently, productively and proceed with
objectives without supervision. Manage own work through planning,
execution, analysis, documentation, and application of results.
Ability to handle and resolve recurring problems. Effectively
communicate both orally and in writing to diverse work groups.
Possess the ability to summarize, analyze, report and present
complex data in a clear and concise manner. Capable of multitasking
and utilizing efficient time management skills. Capable of
adjusting priorities and providing quick feedback and results under
abbreviated timelines. Flexibility and ability to adapt to changes
in project direction. Proficiency using Microsoft Dynamics AX,
Microsoft Office, MS Word, MS Excel and PowerPoint. Capable of
working extended hours, holidays, off-shifts, and weekends when
necessary. Must be a team oriented individual with collaborative
work skills and strong interpersonal skills. High level of accuracy
is required with a special attention to detail. Physical
Requirements and Work Environment Typically works in a laboratory
environment with a normal range of temperature, chemical odor, and
noise level. Must be able to work around hazardous chemicals and
exposure to dust when required to walk through or meet with others
in manufacturing production area. Work requires standing in a
stationary position for up to 20% of the time and when operating QA
testing equipment, walking, sitting at a desk, bending, reaching,
lifting or carrying objects that typically weighing up to 10 pounds
routinely and up to 30 pound occasionally. The ability to ascend
and descend stairs, bend at the waist, kneel, and squat. May
occasionally be required to use a ladder. On an occasional basis,
the ability to sit at a desk for long periods of time (up to 4
hours at a time). Ability to perform simple grasping and fine
manipulation; use telephone; use a keyboard. Ability to ascend and
descend stairs. Must be flexible to required work hours. Must be
able to respond to visual and audible alarms and paging. Ability to
move freely around laboratory, office, and building areas.
Occasional domestic travel may be required. Valid driver---s
license is required. The physical demands described herein are
